Acrylic Glazing Techniques- at the Saint John Arts Centre Sept. 14 – October 12
A good choice for people with beginner to intermediate experience who want to learn the basics of transparent, luminous painting methods with acrylic glazing “mediums”. Participants will have a range of easy to challenging exercises to choose from, in order to suit each individual’s comfort level. Traditional oil glazing requires a lengthy time period to dry, whereas acrylics dry fast. Alexandra demonstrates each day, how to take advantage of the quick drying time, and build up multiple layers of colour and intensity on a painting surface. Through colour mixing exercises and one-on-one demos, students will gain an understanding of the differences between opaque painting and transparent painting. Subject matter used for exercises during this course will include still life, and photo-sources.
